Bonded Brothers by a Chance Meeting

KC Masterpiece came to us from Charles River Alleycats (CRA). Barney came to us on a transport from the City of Columbus Animal Care Services in Indiana. When the two met in the main cat room, they immediately bonded! Here is their story.

KC and his brother, Sweet Baby Ray, were found as sickly strays by CRA and provided medical attention. They were still recovering and quite weak – even contracting an upper respiratory infection – when they came to Baypath so we continued to help them recover.

A foster took them in and showered them with love and care and nursed the brothers back to health. The foster ended up falling in love with Sweet Baby Ray and adopted him. KC, now healthy, came back to the shelter to find an adopter. 

Once KC was placed in the main cat room, he struck up an adorable friendship with Barney and they became fast friends. It seemed as though KC helped Barney come a bit out of his shell and gain a bit more confidence. The staff would often find them snuggling together and playing together. An adopter was interested in adopting a pair of cats, and jumped on the change to take home this odd couple! They are now living their best lives together with their loving family. 

So many pieces came together to make this friendship occur. So very grateful to CRA, City of Columbus Animal Care Services, our devoted fosters, staff, volunteers, and adopters for allowing these boys to feel the love and compassion they deserve.
