Metrowest Pet Pantry temporarily provides low/no cost food and supplies to pet owners in need.
Massachusetts food pantries
The MSPCA’s website has a great list of Massachusetts food pantries help people who are struggling financially to get food for their dogs or cats.
PAWSitive Pantry, Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that was founded in 2009 to provide a safety net to help pets whose families have fallen on hard times. They deliver dog and cat food to food shelves throughout the states of Massachusetts and Vermont.

Project Just Because has partnered with Baypath Humane Society to offer pet food to families in need.

Animal Rescue League
Animal Rescue League of Boston’s Temporary Pet Housing Initiative provides temporary animal care to help pet owners who are facing housing instability or who may be at imminent risk of homelessness.
Berkshire Humane Society
Berkshire Humane Society’s SafePet Program offers free foster care for the pets of owners in crisis because they understand the important bond between people and their pets.
Dakin Humane Society
Dakin Humane Society Safety Plan for Animals helps people who are elderly or disabled and who need a temporary stay in a hospital or nursing facility or are seeking emergency shelter from domestic violence by providing temporary foster care for their pets.
MSPCA-Angell
The MSPCA maintains a comprehensive list of pet-friendly lodging and housing options. Additionally, they have great information on things to consider when pursuing these options and how to best proceed.
Pets for the Homeless
Pets for the Homeless is a nationwide program that is free and serves pet owners who are homeless or those that qualify for low-income services. They focus on feeding and providing vaccinations, basic care, and provide emergency care to pets of those in need.
Safe People Safe Pets
Safe People Safe Pets via the Link Up Education Network helps secure temporary shelter for pets of domestic violence victims. Safe People Safe Pets helps coordinate confidential, temporary foster homes for these pets, providing a safe escape from domestic violence.

Often times we don’t want to believe that one day we will have to live without our furry friend. But with life, comes death. And even though it’s a decision one never likes to make, it’s by far the most respectful and unselfish thing we can ever do for our babies in the end. But what happens after they are gone?
