Our Shelter Pups Go On Field Trips!
Did you know that just a few hours outside the shelter can make a positive difference in the life of a rescue pup? It’s true! According to Maddie’s Fund, an ongoing study suggests field trips can help improve the welfare of dogs, increase adoptability and create advantages for shelters.

As a rapidly growing, innovative animal welfare organization, Baypath utilizes field trips as a form of active enrichment. According to Outreach Coordinator Kathy Lundgren, field trips provide our shelter dogs with a chance to truly relax while discovering new passions like running or swimming. Incredibly deserving canines like Murray benefit from these outings – as evidenced by his joyful smile during a recent car ride!
Whether splashing around in a backyard kiddie pool, visiting a local farm or Weston Nurseries, enjoying a ‘pup cup’ at Murphy’s Ice Cream or trotting along the trails at Hopkinton State Park, our adoptable dogs thrive when given the opportunity to experience curious sights and smells in unique environments. In addition to reducing stress, field trips boost rescue dogs’ visibility, thus improving their chances of adoption. Outdoor excursions likewise benefit our Animal Care Associates and Adoption Counselors, who learn more about the dogs in their care outside of the shelter setting.
