PEDIGREE Foundation Awards Baypath Program Development Grant
We’re delighted to announce that our Dog Adoption Success initiative is getting a welcome boost thanks to a grant from PEDIGREE Foundation.
This new $14,630 grant will allow Baypath to provide adoption success kits to 55 adoptive families and their new dogs. These kits will have the key ingredients needed to be successful, including training, enrichment and educational materials, as well as vouchers toward positive- reinforcement training.
Did you know that the most common reason for a dog being returned to shelter is unwanted behavior? According to the ASPCA, an average of 15% of animals are returned to shelter due to behavior issues (in some areas of the country that percentage exceeds 50% – according to an NIH study).
With your help and the PEDIGREE Foundation grant, we can provide the kits for 55 dogs in year one, tracking our success and adjusting as needed, as we develop the model. Our hope is that this proactive approach will help to increase the bonds between adopted dogs and their new owners and reduce the number of pets that are returned to shelter.
If you aren’t familiar with PEDIGREE Foundation, they’re a 501(c)(3) formed by the makers of PEDIGREE® food for dogs. Their focus is helping dogs in need find loving homes — a goal we share!
We’re thrilled to receive the grant and excited about the work ahead to get every dog the loving home he or she deserves.
