A Sweet Senior Finds a Home

This mild-mannered senior boy is nothing but a complete gentleman.  His unfortunate past was of repeated neglect.  However, his luck changed when he found his way to Baypath this past Fall!

There was a tiny “village” working to get him a new start in life.  Animatch was instrumental in moving him out of his current situation and into our shelter.  Animatch has helped thousands of animals by networking with animal welfare organizations throughout the state.  They help to connect those organizations with limited resources to those that have a better ability to find them homes. Baypath Humane is one of those shelters that work with Animatch and we received the call to help.

Upon intake our vet found some degenerative joint disease and some lipomas (soft tissue masses) with some requiring removal.

Staff and volunteers all fell in love with the 80-pound old soul and looked forward to taking him on walks, car rides and to his favorite fenced in field where he could roll around in the leaves.

Not surprisingly, he was only with us less than two weeks until he was spotted by a wonderful supporter of ours and adopted! He now goes by Sheldon and lives his best retirement life.  To our delight he made an appearance at our October Paws and Claws 5k and looked fantastic!

Recently we received an update on Sheldon’s latest adventure to Maine and the Berkshires with his new family.

He was able to enjoy the beach, dine at several restaurants along the way and hang his head out the window and feel the wind blow through his grey whiskers.

Sheldon is  also is a fan of the holidays and gets into the full spirit with his ugly sweater and all.

We are so fortunate to have kind adopters that see the beauty in our senior animals.  They can look beyond the stiff legs, greying muzzles and see the golden hearts within.
