Liam & Nelly ~ Bonded Pair from South Korea
Liam and Nelly, a beautiful, bonded pair, came to us in July 2021 in the first group of rescues from South Korea. We could see that they gave each other confidence in different areas and we desperately wanted to find them a home together.
When they arrived, they were very, very shut down and we weren’t able to touch them, put a collar on them, or walk them for quite some time. We had a small group at the shelter work with them using positive reinforcement.
In October a wonderful couple, Brian and Susan, found room in their hearts and their home to take the duo in, giving them the time they needed to get used to their new environment. They soon learned to trust Brian and Susan and become the silly dogs they were meant to be.
“Nelly has chosen me (Brian) as her human and sleeps on the bed between Susan and me, snuggled tight to me and uses me as her personal pillow. Liam is still somewhat independent like a cat but does seek attention on his terms (when Nelly lets him) and does not yet seem to have a favorite human. He sleeps most nights now on one of the dog beds on the floor in the bedroom with us.”
Brian and Susan said that Nelly is happy to help get her brother in when she is asked to do so. We knew it was going to be a big ask of someone to adopt two large dogs that needed time to get used to living in a home, but Brian and Susan found the compassion to do so. They said, “They are both so much fun to watch as they adapt to and become more and more comfortable in their new digs.”

Baypath is incredibly grateful for all of the people from all across the globe that have taken part in bringing these dogs from South Korea to the United States and a place to call home.
