Foster Highlight: Natalie Mapp

We appreciate our fosters and have asked them to share their stories.

Foster: Natalie Mapp

How long have you been fostering?

My partner Kenan and I started fostering in April 2021.

Was there something specific that made you want to foster?

Kenan and I both love dogs but at the time we were not ready to commit to a dog. We love to travel, sometimes even at the last minute, so having a foster gave us some flexibility. We were also looking for a new hobby that would take us outside more.

What impact has fostering had on your life?

It allowed my boyfriend and I to spend more time outside and be more social. We met a bunch of nice people at dog parks, breweries etc so it gave us a chance to be more social during the pandemic. Fostering also gave me something to look forward to after work. I was excited to come home and see my foster each day.

Do you have a funny or special story or a special foster to share?

Nova is a sweet beagle mix who is high energy and affectionate. One day when I was getting dressed for work, I noticed she kept jumping up trying to see her reflection in the bathroom mirror. I decided to give her a mirror of her own and she LOVED it! We placed her personal mirror next to her food bowl. She would check herself out in the mirror all of the time. It was hilarious and super cute.

Is there anything else you would like to add or include?

Baypath is an amazing organization and their passion for animals is obvious. Initially I was nervous to foster and take care of the dogs, especially the puppies, but the team at Baypath was so supportive!
