Nikki Baltas, CVT
Nikki Baltas has been a dedicated member of Baypath Humane Society for over 13 years, starting as a volunteer in 2010, joining the staff in 2012, and becoming the Shelter Manager in 2020. Throughout her tenure, Nikki has significantly contributed to the organization by establishing the kitten foster program, enhancing training and behavior services, and expanding partnerships with renowned organizations such as the Humane Society of the United States.
Nikki’s proudest professional achievement is earning her Certified Veterinary Technician license, enabling Baypath to provide in-house, high-standard medical care to all animals. Committed to adaptability, she has developed innovative enrichment programs to improve the quality of life for animals during their stay, especially as local intakes rise and adoptions and fosters decrease. One of her most meaningful memories is finding forever homes for harder-to-place bonded pairs, such as Liam and Nelly, two shy pups rescued from the South Korean dog meat trade.
Nikki has completed the Massachusetts Animal Coalition’s AniMatch training – Canine Body Language and Behavior Observation Training. She is an approved AniMatch Behavior Observer. Nikki has also completed the Fear Free Shelter Program – a program committed to reducing stress in shelter animals.
In her personal life, Nikki is a proud pet parent to Sherman the Pitbull.
