Medical Success Story: Rosie
Medical Success Story: Rosie
When Rosie the Riveter arrived here at the shelter, she was examined by our veterinarian, who discovered an issue with her eyes. She was immediately put on antibiotics, but our vet wanted her seen by a specialist at a nearby animal hospital.
Thanks to our Extraordinary Medical Fund, we were able to follow through on this referral.
The specialist diagnosed Rosie with glaucoma, a condition in which painful pressure is placed on the eye, causing inadequate fluid drainage in the eye. In the interest of her quality of life, we worked with our veterinary partners, including another local animal hospital, to have her eye removed.
This determined little dog was on the mend in no time. Shortly thereafter, her infectious personality secured her an incredible forever home. Her new mom Hannah continued to follow up with the veterinarians on her eye health and ensures that she gets the care she needs.
“When we came for a dog, we didn’t know what we wanted. We found this one-eyed friend and instantly fell in love with her spunk and cuteness and smile and the tail that never stops.” – Hannah, Rosie’s adopter
