Local Student Responds to Shelter’s Needs
Nathan Simon has grown up his entire life with cats. Lucky for us, he and his mom came to Baypath Humane and adopted 2 kittens in October 2016. Since then, the cats have become their beloved family members and the Simon’s have become part of the Baypath family.
A few years ago, Simon and his mom noticed a lot of discarded items at the Southborough Swap Shop and thought of us right away! They called to see what we needed and began gathering blankets, towels and sheets among other things and they deliver just about every weekend and haven’t stopped since. They also have donated toys, carriers, cages, and pet beds. They estimate that it has been over 600 items they have donated.
Even when the pandemic hit, and the Swap Shop was closed his mother got creative and posted on the Southborough Freecycle group and offered to have the items picked up at their homes by Nathan and his friend David Robbins (pictured below with Nathan and his mom). Aside from gently used sheets Nathan has also picked up other items from the Southborough residents such as food, bleach and paper towels. Nathan states that “It made us happy to find a use for the stuff that would have been thrown away”.
What a kind family the Simons are along with his friend David. We are extremely touched and grateful for their generosity.
