Benny ~ South Korean Rescue

Benny came to us as a pretty shy, shutdown boy in February 2022. All we know of his past is that he was cared for by David, a kind gentleman, during his transition out of the Korean Meat Market and before he could get on a flight provided by the HSUS and HSI to the U.S.
David received approval from a kiwi factory owner to let Benny and his young pup Benco stay there while he visited with them. David sent us this incredible video of Benny and his son, Benco, at the kiwi factory. You’ll see that the living conditions weren’t ideal. However, they were still better than living in filthy, cramped cages on the meat farms awaiting to be inhumanely euthanized to be a food source.
Once at Baypath, Benny took quite a while to decompress, to learn to walk on a leash, to go into and out of the building, and to get used to the kindness of the staff and volunteers. This video shows Benny after a few weeks of being at the shelter and getting used to staff and leash walks:
After a long decompression period at the shelter, working on training and gaining trust — Benny was adopted by a lovely couple that gave him time to adjust to another new environment and finally be able to call a place home!
